It’s just so damn hard to keep track of.  You know how it is, one or two kids fussing, you’re trying to strap one in a car seat and shove a binky in the mouth of the other and you end up setting your phone somewhere bizarre and before you know it, it’s been missing for days.  This last time it was lost, guess where I found it?  Henry’s car seat.  Under his bum.  I must’ve set it on his lap during a car-to-house or house-to-car transfer and it slid down.

But yeah.  I cannot shake the fear that I’ll leave Henry sitting in his car seat in a parking lot somewhere as I load groceries or strap Violet in and just drive off and forget about him.  Today a version of that occurred.

My mom came up to go to the park with me and the kids.  It was a hot day and after hours of good, solid park time we headed to the SUV.  But Henry started fussing so I took him out of the Bjorn and handed him to my mom in the front passenger seat so she could feed him a bottle while I took Violet out of the stroller and put her in her car seat.  But instead of putting the stroller immediately into the cargo area of the Honda (like Serge would do and would lecture me to do) I just kind of wheeled it to the back of the SUV and left it there, then stood in the door of the passenger seat chatting with my mom while she fed Henry.  When they were finished I took him from her, buckled Henry in his seat and proceeded to back out.
