PITTSBURGH, PA -- Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will welcome the FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series this Saturday, July 2nd as the Series' will compete at the Imperial, PA oval in the fourth leg of the inaugural Bully Dog "Cross the Border" Speedweek. The winner of the 25-lap feature event will take home a $1,200 paycheck.

In addition, the third NAPA Auto Parts Night will take place this Saturday. Fans who present $25.00 of qualifying retail NAPA Auto Parts receipts will receive FREE Grand Admission. Race fans aged 12 and under who are members of youth sports teams and show their team spirit by wearing their team uniform and all scouts in uniform will be admitted Free.

Max Blair is the current FASTRAK Northeast points leader and is one of the favorite's to pick up the victory in Saturday's feature event. Blair also claimed the first ever FASTRAK Touring event held at the speedway in 2009. Pegher, Jr., Who picked up the victory in the Pro-Late opening night PPMS, Blair is currently in the hunt for points, and with his experience at the Imperial, PA oval, Blair will offer a formidable fight. Joe Martin, Dan Angelicchio and Butch Lambert completed the top five points FASTRAK and should fight for the victory.

An autograph session will take place on the speedway during intermission. Fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite drivers and get photos with their favorite riders.

The Super Late Models, Pro-Lates, Cadets and E-Mods will compete for additional prizes, with the Hobby Stocks and Young Guns round of racing action.

Doors open at 5:00 with warm-up races and 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Adult fare will be $ 15.00 with Seniors $ 14.00, Juniors 13-16 $ 9.00, $ 5.00 children 7-12.

I’m doing an essay on how the music of Weather report matured. I’ve found a couple of websites, and excerpts in books, but none dedicated to Weather Report. Any suggestions of articles, reviews etc, but particularly books would be most appreciated.

American jazz-rock group. It was founded in December 1970 by original members Joe Zawinul (keyboards), Wayne Shorter (soprano and tenor saxophone), Miroslav Vitous (double bass), Alphonse Mouzon (drums) and Airto Moreira (percussion). Over the years the group has undergone many personnel changes, with Zawinul and, until 1985, Shorter serving as the only constant members; the electric bass guitarist Jaco Pastorius gave the ensemble its most significant new instrumentalist (1976–81). In 1986 the quintet performed briefly under a new name, Weather Update, and then disbanded.

Weather Report’s first albums provided several remarkable instances of unconventional collective playing, though their music remained accessible to a large audience. Discarding the traditional jazz roles of soloist and accompanist, the players took the lead by turn and created textures that were continuously changing; they elided tonal ostinato themes with improvisations, and alternated unmetred passages with others underpinned by rock or Latin rhythms. Excellent examples of this novel approach to ensemble improvisation are Seventh Arrow and Umbrellas (on Weather Report, 1971, Col.), or Crystal and Surucucú (on I Sing the Body Electric, 1971–2, Col.). By 1972 Zawinul dominated the group, which had moved towards rock. He had a preference for dance rhythms and fixed arrangements featuring complex electronic effects. His striving for commercial success precipitated the many personnel changes in the group, but also led to its resounding hit Birdland (on Heavy Weather, 1976, Col.). Havona (also on Heavy Weather) demonstrated Jaco Pastorius’s unique command of the electric bass guitar, as well as the group’s continuing ties to improvisation.
