Leona Lewis: I want to be an X Factor mentor on next series

The Bleeding Love singer won the competition herself in 2006 and went on to have number one singles and albums.

But after a slight decline in chart success, it looks like Lewis may make a return to X Factor with the star believing her own experience on the show will help her to coach others.

She said: ‘I always go on the show and sing, but I want to ask Simon Cowell for a bigger role.

‘I couldn't be a judge this year as I've been busy working on my new album. I already know I'm going to be performing on the show this year but I'd like to do something different, maybe a mentor instead.

‘I've been through the whole process, so I think I'd be able to give the new acts some good advice.’

Following her previous albums Spirit and Echo, Leona is now working on a third album.

Having split from long-term boyfriend Lou al-Chamaa last year, the singer has said that the new offering will be ‘darker’ in style.

She added to Reveal: 'I wanted to put my heart into my lyrics, so most of my new album has a darker tone to it. It's not just about my ex, or any one person, it's a mix of emotions.

'But it's not all sad. I'm in a really happy place right now, so there are some upbeat tracks too.'

X Factor auditions are now underway with Kelly Rowland recently storming out of the selection stages when girl band Twisted were given the boot.

The Destiny’s Child singer caught up with the girl band's lead singer Chrissie and suggested she audition as a solo artist.

I really thought this was one of her best ever performances, and her dress was breathtakingly beautiful, it was sold afterwards on ebay for charity. She was sadly denied any awards which was so wrong, I believe she was cheated and the awards fixed because of her fame from X-Factor. Love or hate the fact she came to success through the X-Factor, she is still an extremely talented singer who will probably be around for a long career in the music industry. SORRY the image breaks up sometimes, at the time I recorded it I only had an indoor aerial to use with my PC digital tv card and it was a poor signal which caused this, believe me I was annoyed as you probably are, but it's still a good enough HQ recording for me. It was from a mpeg2 file 720x576 widescreen 16:9 from a direct live channel feed. I enlarged it to 1280x720 using VirtualDub using Lanczos3 resize filter mode so youtube would display it with the HD option. If anyone has an original digital tv recording or a high quality file of this performance they can send me I will be eternally grateful, thanks! I haven't had any luck searching elsewhere yet.
