UI officials name River Landing Clinic director

University of Iowa officials announced Rami Boutros Wednesday as the new executive medical director for the Off-Site Ambulatory Care Programs at the UI Health Care-Iowa River Landing, according to a press release.

Boutros, who works at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, will begin his position June 30, pending approval from the state Board of Regents.

“We were looking for a leader with the right combination of skills and experience to help bring this major project to fruition, and we clearly met that goal when we found Dr. Boutros,” Jean Robillard, UI vice president for Medical Affairs, said in the release. “His previous experience in caring for Iowans is an added bonus.”

Boutros has worked with implementing electronic medical records since 2008, including work with the MyChart application in Cleveland.

His responsibilities as executive medical director will include developing UI Health Care-Iowa River Landing, planning a budget for the project and financial management.

IV will be soon posting some updates on this. We have done some ground work on this issue in the recent past and have got positive response. Stronger support from our members, will definitely help us push this agenda item. IV feels that this issue is going to be a big roadblock for a lot of us now, after people have filed their I485s. It is possible to get a much wider bi-partisan support on this issue by us and we are already pursuing it. My question: Lets say I go ahead and apply for 485. However, my H1 has expired, so I will be traveling on AP. So when I travel outside the US, I am technically not on H1, when I come back...am I right? So, if my spouse wants to apply for H4 visa will she be granted one? Since I had traveled on AP? I am sorry if I confused this with EAD. Bottom line, my H1 stamp has expired and I do not intend to go for another stamping while outside. May be IV should be a top-down organization. Any organization as big as IV would probably be better served with a Top Team. That team could probably elected by the community. I am confident, that most of our members wouldnt even mind spending a few extra bucks to pay a honarary amount to this team for their efforts and time. Then there will be more structure and accountability and action going on around here. Don't judge IV by what's posted on the forum. IV is more than a forum. A lot of action happens off the forum (in fact most of it). Like Morpheus told Neo in Matrix, 'No one can tell you what it is. You need to experience it yourself'. Participating actively in IV activities through state chapters is the only way to know all IV activities happening. It will never get posted here in a forum full of anti-immigrant trolls. IV is transparent in its finances as it gets audited as a tax-exempt organization and held accountable to its expenses. Transparency is bi-directional. IV expects its members seeking updates to be transparent too (by providing complete contact details and valid E-mail ids). When a large number of members aren't transparent themselves, asking IV to be transparent is a moot point. Like Waldenpond said, it is probably not wise to list all the items going on in the portal. The work around to that would be, we can add another membership type which is more restrictive. This membership group will have only members whose identities have been verified. Once this group is created, IV can post all the happenings accessible to them.
