Women stepped out to turn the town pink for hospice

BOLTON was turned pink last night when hundreds of women took to the streets to raise vital funds for Bolton Hospice.

The charity’s biggest event, the annual Midnight Memories Walk, saw women don pink and trek eight miles from Victoria Square to the Beehive Roundabout, Horwich , and back, setting off at midnight.

They raised more than £100,000 for the hospice, which cares for terminally ill people.

There was entertainment in the town centre beforehand, including the hospice’s Summer Sunshine Draw.

It was the fifth year the Midnight Memories Walk has been held.

Maria Passarello, events manager, said beforehand: “This is a fun event, we are really looking forward to it.

“We hope everyone enjoys it and raises as much as possible.”

Women taking part were reminded it was a walk not a race. Chorley New Road remained open so participants needed to stay on the pavement at all times.
