PILESGROVE TWP. — Looking for a fireworks display this Fourth of July Weekend?
The only place to enjoy a public fireworks display in Salem County this holiday weekend will be at Four Seasons Campground here.
The show will take place Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. and promises to be another good display. Fireworks are presented annually at the campground on the Woodstown-Daretown Road here.
Parking for the public is available within the campground for $5 a carload and that money goes to the Reliance and Daretown Fire companies whose volunteers handle the parking.
Refreshments will be available for sale. Those proceeds go to benefit Daretown Boy Scout Troop 60.
The rain date is Sunday.
Many towns that had in the past sponsored fireworks presentations have cut them due to budgetary reasons.

Last week’s poll asked what gifts you can and/or received for Father’s Day . The majority offered some other option such as books but is the stereotypical popular option ranked last with only one vote from the new father. Me? I got a 11×17 screened in porch and a dinner out at my favorite restaurant. Can’t wait to get some use out of that gift!
Speaking of using that gift, being that it’s for camping, I was wondering what you guys do when you go camping. Some people hang out in their RVs and watch TV. Others sit around the campfire, even when it’s 90F and sunny, shooting the breeze. Others go hiking, fishing, swimming, or exploring the area. Us? We like to sit around and play lawn games and drink beer while making tons of food.
While we haven’t done nearly as much camping as we used to due to the young age of The Rooster, he’s starting to get old enough to go with us again. While I’m certain that our camping activities will change with him I figured it would be a good thing to ask and see what others have done with their families in the past.
So what do you do when you go camping? How young were you/your children when you started camping? Did you enjoy it as a kid? What would you do differently to have your child not dread it? When planning where to go camping, we always chose areas where there was sometime interesting to do if it rained. Older towns with a good museum or a number of antique shops, etc. We liked hiking trails and water activities where we dd not need to bring a boat or canoes. It is much easier to rent at the spur of the moment than haul them around and usually not use them anyway. We quickly switched from tents to an older pop up tent camper. Our kids are grown now and camp with their children. For me it was always about teaching my kids about nature and how to cook great food with few ingredients. How to share in the set up and take down chores. I camped a lot as a Boy Scout and passed on my skills to my four children.
I like to hope that I will never ever go camping again.
