Bully Hill installs 4 fermentors, 50000-gallon wine silo
The stainless-steel vessels will figure into the production of various red wines made from native grapes.The fermentors will start working on the 2011 vintage by the end of this month, says Sean King, sales and marketing manager for Bully Hill.
King declined to disclose the cost of the equipment or the installation, which included adding a 50,000-gallon wine silo to the winery.
Feldmeier Equipment Inc. of Little Falls, Herkimer County, manufactured the fermentors and the wine silo for Bully Hill, which produces 200,000 cases of wine per year.
The fermentors are equipped with innovative internal agitators that keep the maceration process going, King says.
The agitators also eliminate the need for manual punch-downs, the strenuous task of pushing down grape skins, stems, pulp and seeds that rise to the top of fermenting red wine. Besides keeping spoilage at bay, agitation and punch-downs help ensure wines taste and color.

Ranger brings plenty of experience to the table this weekend with several road course starts already under his belt. Ranger is the 2007 and 2009 Canadian Tire Series Champion.
