Shields, Keys, Cattrall going to Broadway
In recent days, it was announced that Kim Cattrall is making her way into the theatre and Alicia Keys is taking on the role of Broadway producer.
As for Shields, she's no stranger to the stage. She made her Broadway debut in a revival of "Grease" and has also appeared in "Cabaret," "Wonderful Town" and "Chicago."
The L.A. Times reports Cattrall will appear in Noel Coward's "Private Lives" on Broadway beginning on Nov. 17. She'll play the divorcee Amanda, a role she honed in London's West End. Most audiences know Cattral from "Sex and the City," on which she played Samantha on the HBO series and on the big screen.
Keys' role on Broadway is behind the scenes, reports MTV News . She's co-producing "Stick Fly," a play by Lydia R. Diamond about a wealthy black family getting together at their summer home in Martha's Vineyard. The sons in the family bring their girlfriends home - one woman is black and one white - to meet the parents.
"Stick Fly" will make its Broadway debut at the Lyceum Theatre. It opens in December with previews beginning Nov. 18. The play opened in Chicago in 2006 and has won several awards.
