Mary C. Hagey
MARCUS, Iowa -- Mary C. Hagey, 91, of Marcus, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011, at her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. The Rev. Eugene Murray will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Name Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 a.m. today, with a rosary at 3 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Earnest-Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus. Mary Catharine Jaminet was born April 5, 1920, on a farm near Marcus, to John and Catharine (Ryan) Jaminet. She attended country school near her home and later graduated from Remsen St. Mary's High School.
On Oct. 20, 1942, Mary and Robert C. Hagey were united in marriage at Neosho, Mo. During World War II, Mary worked as Rosie the Riveter in Illinois. At the conclusion of the war the couple made their home in Marcus. In early years, Mary was a homemaker and stayed at home with her family until they were raised. Later in life, she took a position with Cherokee Mental Health. Mary worked there for 13 years before retiring. Robert passed away on June 21, 2000.
Mary was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, St. Ann's Guild and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. During their retirement years, Mary and Robert spent 13 winters in Phoenix, Ariz. Most of all, she enjoyed family gatherings and being active in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children, Grant Hagey of Marcus, Diane Froiland of Brookings, S.D., and Debra Ebert and her husband, Conrad of Marcus; a daughter-in-law, Debra Hagey of Remsen, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Holly Raymond and her husband, Paul of Chicago, Ill., Mike Hagey of Remsen, Jessica Hagey of Phoenix, Justin and Erick Froiland of Brookings, Danielle and Alex Ebert of Marcus; a great-grandson, Sullivan Raymond of Chicago; a sister, Florence Lathrum of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother and his wife, Robert and Shirley Jaminet of Remsen; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; a son, Steve Hagey; a son-in-law, Rick Froiland; a sister, Rose Schmidt; and brothers, Ray, Harold, Loren, Francis and Ed Jaminet.

She was a member of St. John's Altar Rosary Society, LAOH Division Four, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Goshen Senior Citizens Group, as well as a dedicated volunteer of the Valley View Retirement Home. She is survived by five daughters:

St. Aloysius School has announced that it had 12 winners who participated in the art and poetry contests sponsored by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. The four first-place winners went on to win at the state level as well.
Mr. Wolf is a self-employed dairy farmer. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mrs. Wolf is a homemaker. She is a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. The couple are members of St. Mary's Catholic Church. They have 14 grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Bristol High School Mrs. Jones was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Mark, No. 1097, St. Thomas Aquinas Senior Citizens, the Golden Marks Senior Citizens and the Seasoned Travelers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. The Rev. Eugene Murray will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Earnest -- Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus. The rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. The family will be present from 6-8 p.m. and a scriptural prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Thursday.
